Monster Cookies!
Saturday, March 23, 2013
I thought my very first post should be something light and fluffy! Not in a literal way of course. I don't buy prepackaged snacks for the boys. It's not because I am health concious. I'm just cheap and they ate them up in a day. So I started making cookies. Chocolate chip at first. Im a pretty good cook. But for some reason, cookies are tough for me. I would like to blame it on the oven but that would mean I have had seven faulty ovens in my lifetime.
The first few batches were edible. But they were either to dark, to light, or to flat. My seventeen year old son would yell when the timer went off,
"Don't burn the cookies!"
He has had his share of them.
Finally I got it right. They were good and the kids were actually excited when they smelled them baking. I started adding things. Oatmeal. M&M's. Peanut Butter. One weekend a month I will take a day and make about 100 Monster Cookies. They freeze really well. After unthawed they taste like I made them that day. I keep asking Darren (my seventeen year old) if he is sick of them.
Nope.
He checks the freezer every so often and reports back to me when the supply is getting low.
So there is just a little piece of me. Something that I enjoy. Something that makes me feel good about myself. Which is rare these days. But I'll save that for another post.
